Privacy Policy

Pomona Artesian Irrigation Company (“Pomona Artesian,” “we,”
“us”) is a non-profit, member-owned Class A water system in the East Selah area of
Yakima County, Washington. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and
who we share it with.
Information we collect
- Member and account information — name, service address, mailing
address, phone number, email address, meter and account number, and billing and payment history.
Most of this comes to us directly from you when you become a member or update your account. - Mobile phone numbers — if you sign up for text message notifications,
we store the mobile number you enrolled from, the date and time you consented, and the keyword
you sent. - Website information — if you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect
the email address you give us. Our website uses standard web analytics, which record things like
pages viewed and general location. We do not use the website to collect payment information.
How we use it
- To read meters, calculate and send your quarterly assessment, and record payments.
- To notify you about your account — statements, payment reminders, and payment
confirmations. - To alert you about service — outages, scheduled maintenance, shut-off notices, and
water quality notices we are required to send. - To run the water system and meet our obligations as a Class A public water system under
Washington state law.
Text message notifications
Text messaging is optional. You enroll by texting JOIN to
(509) 902-0523, and you can leave at any time by replying STOP.
Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for
help. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of water service or of membership.
Mobile phone numbers collected for text message notifications are not sold, rented, or
shared with third parties for marketing purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third
parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
We use a licensed messaging provider to deliver these messages on our behalf. That provider
may only use your number to deliver our messages to you. Your mobile number and your consent
record are not shared with anyone else except as described below.

Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent member information. We share it only:
- With service providers who work on our behalf — our billing software, our messaging
provider, and our water systems operator — and only as needed to do that work. - With the Washington State Department of Health or other regulators, where reporting is
required of a Class A water system. - Where we are required to by law, subpoena, or court order.
How long we keep it
We keep member, billing, and consent records for as long as you are a member and afterwards
for as long as our record-keeping obligations require. Text message consent and opt-out records
are kept as evidence of your choice.
Your choices
- Reply STOP to any text message to stop receiving text messages.
- Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email to stop receiving email.
- Ask us to correct your contact information at any time.
Opting out of text messages or email does not affect your water service, and we will continue
to send required notices by mail.
Security
We restrict access to member records to the board members, our operator, and the service
providers who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not store payment card numbers
and we do not publish member contact information.
Children
Our website and our text notifications are for account holders. We do not knowingly collect
information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. If a
change affects how we handle your mobile number, we will say so on this page.
